Young Fine Gael’s International Committee has unanimously passed a motion urging the new Irish Government to develop a policy on Somaliland’s independence.
Proponents of the initiative believe this could pave the way for Somaliland’s recognition to be debated in the Irish parliament.
Meanwhile, similar efforts are underway in the US Congress, where momentum for recognising Somaliland continues to grow.
