Turkey’s Ambassador tasked with Somaliland and Somalia talks, Ambassador Olgan Bekar has been in Addis Ababa for the past few days.
Ambassador Olgan Bekar held meetings with senior Ethiopian government officials and the Somali ambassador to Addis Ababa. He also held various meetings in Addis Ababa.
On December 5, Ambassador Bekar attended a meeting in Addis Ababa to address peace and security in the Horn of Africa region. The meeting, which announced by the Turkish embassy in Addis Ababa, failed to give the details of the envoy’s remarks.
On Friday, last week , he met with Ms. Hitut Zemene , Ethiopian state minister in charge of Foreign Affairs in Addis Ababa., in a brief statement released by the Ministry of Foreign Affairs stated that the Ethiopian state minister and Ambassador Olgan Bekar during their meeting they discussed matters relating to Somalia. “Ethiopian Foreign Minister Hirut Zemene held talks with Turkey’s special envoy to Somalia. The State Minister spoke about Ethiopia’s efforts to help build peace, security and create economic integration in the Horn of Africa region.
The Turkish envoy on his part lauded Ethiopia for its efforts in the region and explained the various ways in which Turkey contributes to the restoration of peace and stability in Somalia. ” But failed to mention that the envoy is the Turkish ambassador for Somaliland and Somalia talks.
Ambassador Olgan Bekar also met with Mr. Abdihakim Abdulahi Camey, Somalia’s Ambassador to Addis Ababa, and the recently sacked Puntland MP Abdihakim Mohamed Dhobo in Addis Ababa. Both men are of Somaliland origin, and both are staunch anti-Somaliland.
There is no official statement from the Turkish envoys regarding his meeting with the anti-Somaliland individuals , he should be reminded of his duties and mandated tasked with Somaliland and Somalia talks, and it appears that the envoy is busy with activities relating with bend with destabilizing and undermining Somalind sovereign,Mr. Olgan and his master should not mistake their mission to relate to dialogue, though Somaliland seems to be out of the picture in their context.
It is unclear whether President Bihi’s government is aware of these diplomatic activities, but no one in Somaliland announced that the ambassador had held a meeting in Addis Ababa.
