The traditional leaders from Awdal region have welcomed the words of the President which was expressed as a New Year’s Eve message to the members of the public.
At the same time they said that they were publicity shy and liked their issues addressed discreetly.
The sentiments were expressed in credited plurality by one of their own, the eminent Sultan Ibrahim Jama Samatar.
“We welcome the words of the President and see it positively”, said Sultan Samatar who spoke on telephone to our sister paper Dawan on Friday night.
He however said that they expected a swift response in addressing their grievances which they had petitioned the President.
“We paid the President the courtesy call and expressed in details our plight,” said Sultan Samatar.
“We expect to it to be promptly addressed”, he added.
The traditional leader said that they were publicity shy and did not want to express issues through the media.
“We discreetly met the President as per traditional etiquettes demands and expect such reciprocation”, he elaborated.
Asked about the whereabouts of Sultan Wabar, he said that he was not in the country and though that he was along the SL-Ethiopia border.
He expressed his New Year’s greetings and message to the people of Somaliland wishing them well in their endeavours.
He also paid a special tribute of greetings during this month that celebrates the birth of the Prophet Muhammed Pbuh, the Rabi’ul Awal (3rd month of the lunar calendar year) celebrated on its 12th day :the Maulid un’ Nabi
