The government o Turkey has donated 5000 tons of assorted food aid to Somaliland in response to an appeal made by Somaliland over recent drought and famine in the country.
The food aid will be distributed to families affected and impacted by the drought that hit most of the regions in Somaliland. A delegation headed by Somaliland trade minister flanked by deputy foreign affairs minister, National Environment Research & Disaster Preparedness (NERAD), Berbera regional officials and the manager of Berbera port accepted the donation of food aid ship from Turkey.
Turkish consulate to Hargeisa, Mr. Muzaffer Yuksel attended the handing over humanitarian ship to Somaliland. Berbera Port Manager, Ahmed Ali Dirir has expressed thanks and appreciations to the Turkish government for sending aid ship to Somaliland earmarked for drought hit families in Somaliland.
Deputy FM said that the aid ship sent by Turkey is a response made by Turkey over the plea sent by president Ahmed Silanyo to the world.
