The Three-day’ National Cultural Event attracting various youth groups from all six regions of Somaliland; 18 poets and 6 Cultural dance groups took part in a very competitive and exiting completions that also attracted viewers from many communities of closed on Tuesday at the Mansoor hotel.
The three-day event was jointly organized by the Academy of Peace and Development (APD) and the Ministry of Information and National Guidance.
The National Cultural Event, which is the first of its kind in the country, was also organized by the Mobile Audio Visual Unit (MAVU) a department within the Academy of Peace and Development( APD). This Event could not have taken place without the support and assistance of our partners from Interpeace and respected donors (Germany). The main objective of the event was to recognize and showcase outstanding initiatives taken to engage the public youth in peace and unity amongst the youth throughout all six-regions of Somaliland.
The country’s rich cultural background came to life the during the course of the three day event and at the same time provided a podium for the upcoming nation youth to produce a spectrum of artistic expression and a thriving creative community in form of poetry, traditional dances etc.
During the third day, Mr. Mohamed Farah Hersi , the Executive Director of the Academy of Peace and Development presented the overall winners with Trophy’s and prizes for their accomplishments. The top three poets in the competition and top three winners of the cultural dance groups are as following;
