Spark and its partners officially launched, ‘Africa House’, the first Business Incubator and Entrepreneurship Development Center in the Somali Regions. The business Incubator and entrepreneurship development aims to develop entrepreneurship, through a range of activities which include; training, coaching and mentoring, access to a range of in-house services including secretarial, administrative and office-based space. Africa-House also provides a ‘business Incubation’ service which helps lower the operating cost of businesses in the start-up phase.

SPARK is Dutch NGO founded in the early 90’s to empower young ambitious people to lead their post-conflict societies into prosperity. The Africa House initiative is part of the ‘Migrant Diaspora Entrepreneurship’ program, the overall aim of this programme is to support entrepreneurship amongst Somali Diaspora migrants in the Netherlands and EU, facilitating them to set up their business in their country of origin, thereby creating jobs and contributing to economic growth.
SPARK launched the Africa House in cooperation with its partners the Cheetah Group, SMART, Collert Consultancy, the Fayo Foundation and the Horn Resource Center in an opening ceremony which took place on the 6th of April 2015.
The ceremony drew speakers from within the community, government and the education sector, with the Somaliland Minister of Industries Shucaby Mohamed Muuse calling the initaitve ‘the first of its kind’. Other notable speakers at this opening ceremony Professor Saeed from Golis University, Abdi-Qadir Jirde former chair of the parliament and the DG of the Ministry of Commerce.
