The commanding officer in charge of the 3rd army regiment based in Erigavo, Sanaag region, the late Major Said Abdi Warsame was shot last night by a fellow Solider due to a quarrel.
Somaliland Minister of Defense Ahmed Haji Cadani speaking to the BBC Somali services confirmed the incident involving the death of the senior military officer which took place at a restaurant.
The Defense Minister said according to eye witness reports, the regular solider approached the senior officer while having his evening meal inside a local restaurant and started shooting the senior officer first in his right and left arm before pumping several bullets into his torso .
“The rogue solider is said to have fled the murder scene on foot and is currently at large”, the Defense Minister cited.
The slain army officer is said to have bled to death due to lack of urgent medical attention
