The President H.E. Ahmed Mohammed Mohamud Silanyo has stated the 20th February to be the National Youth Day to be observed annually.
The Head of State made the directive through decree reference number JSL/M/XERM/249-4570/022017 which prescribes the date to be observed in honour of the youth.
According to a press release by Presidential Spokesman Hussein A. Egge, the President reached the decision following a request from the ministry of Youth and sports.
In the same strength H.E. Ahmed Silanyo acknowledges the importance of the role of the youth in the society hence sees the need to underscore their position.
