Hargeisa- H.E President Ahmed Mohamed Mahmoud Silanyo and his entourage returned to the country after concluding eight days working visit to the United Arab Emirate.
President Silanyo and his entourage upon return to the country today at Egal International Airport received by Vice President Abdurrahman Abdullah Ismael “Salylic”, top armed forces commanders, Cabinet Ministers, MPs, traditional leaders and members of the public.
President Silanyo speaking to the press said, “During our eight day visit to the UAE, we discussed ways in which to strengthen existing cordial and to expand long-standing economic and security partnership. As you’re well aware of the honorable leaders of that country had previously pledged to provide aid in for of development projects, we expect the UAE to send its representatives soon to access and evaluate our needs.
The Minister of Foreign Affairs and International Cooperation Hon Mohamed Bihi Yunis said , “We and UAE officials discussed ways of strengthening of trade cooperation including the issue of expansion and upgrading of the facilities at the Berbera port by the Dubai Ports Authority a subsidiary of the Dubai world.
We also discussed matters regarding ongoing development projects and proposed new projects which will be in the sector of energy a, Water, Schools, hospitals, roads, security and providing much needed resources to deal with the ever surging influx of Yemeni Refugees.
The UAE and Somaliland have developed close cooperation in the areas of trade, investment, the fight against piracy and regional affairs.
Somaliland President also briefly met with Ethiopian Prime Minister in Addis Abba, Ethiopian capital.
