H.E President Ahmed Mohamed Mahmoud Silanyo commissioned the first phase of 4KM and 200Meters newly tarmacked Dawga-Cad road which links the country with neighboring Djibouti
I would like to thank all those people who contributed funds towards the construction of this road for their generosity, as you’re well aware of this road once completed will connect people living in the country and strengthening cooperation between the two countries and the regional matters including security, trade and other bilateral issues which is aimed at spur economic growth in the areas traversed by the road project hence reducing the poverty levels of the roadside communities.
“Roads are an integral part of the transport system; our road network should be efficient in order to maximize economic and social benefits but most of all they play a significant role in achieving national development and contributing to the overall performance and social functioning of communities in the country”, President Silanyo said.
The Minister in charge of Presidential affairs Hon Hirsi Ali Haji Hassan was also among the speakers at the opening ceremony of the first phase of the road said, “Somaliland governments plans to initiated similar development projects aimed at upgrading infrastructure in the country such as the construction of tarmac roads have been constructed in a very few years to connect rural and village communities to urban cities.
Accompanying the President were the first lady Amina Weris, Ministers of Defense, Finance, Interior Presidential Affairs, Tribal leaders and members of the Dawga Cad road construction committee.
