The President H.E. Ahmed Mohammed Mohamud Silanyo inaugurated a 21km standard tarmac road that connected Kalabayd in Gabiley region to Dila in Awdal region, continuing the marching on in his keen and steadfast efforts in developing road networks in the country.
The highway which has been funded by the Somaliland Development Fund, is in essence through the partnership support of Denmark, Norway, Holland and the UK.
The President expressed his happiness in participating in the inauguration hence thanked the SDF partnership.
He made it clear that the building and construction of infrastructural network was a priority targeted by his administration.
He noted that the roads network is a backbone of production factors that step up development and progress in a nation, by way of connecting people together and in dispensing haulage at the same.
He further said that the efforts are not on only those already built but by also completing the ongoing constructions plus those to be built too.
“it is our nation that we are building hence we thank whoever ekes in any needed support”, and continued, “we should thus not be those waiting for alms but we should work hand in hand and stretch ourselves such that we reach tangible progress”.
The President thanked the masses who attended the ceremony.
He was accompanied by the Kulmiye Chairman and flag-bearer for presidential candidacy Muse Bihi Abdi, public works minister Hon. Ali Mohamud Hassan, ministers of aviation and planning and the Somaliland Road Agency (SRA) chief executive.
This who spoke at the venue included the Dila mayor, elected officials, politicians and traditional leaders all of whom lauded the president for not only prioritizing construction of road networks but working to see to it that the roads are indeed built.
Notably, the Speakers gave the example of Erigavo road whose construction (which has made gigantic steps and is still ongoing) has confounded both friends and foes. The road whose construction was mobilized personally by the President entailed hundreds of kilometers hence is being footed through local donations by the members of the public only.

The President was widely cheered by members of the public who greeted him along the road as he passed through the centers and towns of Arabsiyo, Gabiley and Kalabaid.
