Maintaining public order is obligation incumbent upon us all, he says

Hargeisa-The Head of State has appealed for peaceful stability and a return to the harmonious setting that the people cherished. He said that its observance was an obligation upon everybody.
The President made the appeal in the background of the recent skirmishes that fatally claimed lives in El-afweyn.
Said he, “Peace, respecting other’s rights, living harmoniously together and stability are aspects that has been the pointers depicting the essence of the republic of Somaliland and we have basked in it while cherishing it for the past quarter of a century”.
He said that it was because of such reasons that he calls for the return to peaceful stability and for the warring factions to stop forthwith any animosity or acrimony between them.
He said that the meaningless killings had no room hence the country could not afford any loss of a single life.
The President reminded the public, in particular the residents of the area in question, that chaos claimed lives of all, the young, the old, the brothers, sisters, aunts, uncles and all relatives.
He sent condolences to the slain or killed persons in the fracas between the two communities and the country at large.
He particularly appealed to, and called for, the elders, traditional leaders and entrepreneurs of the area to work towards the stabilizing of the peaceful stability.
He lastly called for the immediate maintenance of public order.
On the other hand the minister of information, national guidance and culture echoed similar words and called for the immediate halting of any acrimony. He at the same time called for the maintenance and observation of public order.
Hon. Osman Sahardid disclosed that the state has banned the carrying or brandishing of weapons by the residents of the areas afflicted by the skirmishes.
He said that “no individual or group of individuals” would brandish any weapons and that whoever is seen with it would face the full force of the law.
Similar calls for the halting of the enmity were made by the speaker of the Guurti Hon. Suleiman Mohamud Aden and local members of parliament from the area.
Hon. Suleiman said that the matter was in the hands of the government and called for the return of normalcy.
Local MPs across the divide from the area held joint press conference making similar appeals.
