Hon Liban Yusuf Osman , Somaliland deputy minister of foreign affairs and international cooperation was among the delegates at the World Green Economy Summit (WGES) is one of the leading global forums on the green economy. It brings together world-class experts in critical sectors from around the world to directly focus on advancing the global green economy and sustainability agenda, achieving the UN Sustainable Development Goals and implementing the recommendations of COP21 & 22.
The Summit, held under the patronage of HH Sheikh Mohammed bin Rashid Al Maktoum, Vice President Prime Minister of UAE and The Ruler of Dubai, is organised by the Dubai Electricity & Water Authority and World Green Economy Organisation, in cooperation with Dubai Supreme Council of Energy and WETEX.
During the two days (24-25) summit, Hon Liban Yusuf Osman, Somaliland deputy minister of foreign affairs and international cooperation met with experts from world o directly focus on advancing the global green economy and sustainability agenda.
Hon Liban Yusuf Osman informed the participants of the summit on the progresses Somaliland made in terms of development, economy , investment and how Somaliland is ideally placed to utilise solar energy. Solar resources have been utilised for off-grid generation in the country.
The summit highlighted innovative solutions and leading practices to inspire change and aims to align stakeholders with policy makers to create a facilitative environment and ecosystem for sustainable green growth that address current and future needs. This year’s summit is based on the theme of “Driving innovation, leading change”. It will follow three separate focus points:
. Green Capital
. Digital technologies
. Leadership and social engagement
On the other hand, the deputy minister of foreign affairs and international cooperation visited Somaliland mission office in Dubai , whereby he met with Ambassador Yassin Hirad who briefed him on the workings of the mission.
