Erigavo-The head of Dahabshil group in Erigavo has presented $ 2000 dollars in cash donations to the patron of East Africa charity School Complex and Orphanage which is home to at least 50 children.
Mr. Abdullah Mohamed Ahmed, the patron in charge of East Africa charity School and Orphanage receiving the cash donation said, “First and foremost, I would also like to thank Dahabshiil group for bringing joy and pride into the lives of our children. We are very grateful to Dahabshiil Group for leading the way in providing the cash donation, which shall be spent for meeting the wants of the children such as buying new clothing for the Eid festivities.
The patron in charge also informed that the children’s home still faced challenges and these include the number of children seeking refuge had doubled in recent times hence becoming impossible to accommodate all vulnerable children in the town. He appealed to the local businesses and the general public to donate money for the construction of new classrooms and dormitories.
The Mayor of Erigavo speaking during the brief handing over function at the orphanage said, “Caring for orphans and helping to give them a safe and comfortable life is an obligation for everyone in the community, I hope the Dahabshiil donation shall raise the awareness of people about orphans and the needy in society.
The Horn of Africa Charity apart from aiding orphans, it also provides assistance to poor families, divorced and widowed women and elderly people in Erigavo and Sanaag region.
