The birthday of the Prophet Muhammad Peace be Upon Him(PBUH) was commemorated today in most towns of the country.
Milad an-Nabi, also known as Mawlid al-Nabi, is a holiday celebrated by some Muslims which commemorates the birth of the Prophet Muhammad.
Religious leaders, politicians, tribal leaders, Ministry of Religious Affairs officials and members of the public gathered together in a well attended held today in Hargeisa to commemorate Prophet
Some celebrate by remembering episodes from the life of the Prophet Muhammad or by reciting devotional poetry and hymns.
The event was organized by Jimciyatul Al Axbaab, a local Ngo ,Honorable Ahmed Yassin Sheik Ali Ayaanle and the Ministry of Religious Affairs.
Usually the ceremony takes place on the 12th day of the Islamic month of Rabi al-Awwa.. In 2015, the holiday begins on the evening of January 2 and continues until the evening of January 3.
The history of this celebration goes back to the early days of Islam when some of the Tabi`in (the successors of the Companions of the Prophet) began to hold sessions in which poetry and songs composed to honor the dignity and the righteous example of the Messenger of Allah were recited and sung to overflowing crowds in the major cities of Islamic Civilization.
Hon Ali Mohamed Warancade Minister of Interior, Hon Jamali Alin Hussein, on Aden Ruush were among the notable personalities present at the event making the birthday of the Prophet Muhammed Peace is Upon Him.
