HIBF is a window world views on Somaliland’s security, development and culture, Dr Jama M Jama

Dr. Jama M. Jama, Hargeisa Cultural Center CEO stated that the Hargeisa International Book Fair is a window through which the world views for Somaliland’s security, development and culture.

A scenario of a hall full of jovial and ardent fans, mostly of youth age bracket, government officials, diplomats, intellectuals, artists almost numbering a thousand folks as audience concluded the week-long event of culture, book reading, discussions and variety of programs.

Dr. Jama Muse Jama who addressed the closing ceremony of the 14th annual festival, praised the companies and individuals who have made significant contributions to its success.

“This year, more than 4,500 books have been purchased by the public this year, with the best-selling book being ‘Hawaale Waran’ by poet Mohamed I. Hadrawi, and the second one being ‘Folaad’, an autobiography of the late legendary composer, educationist, poet, artiste and soloist  Mohamed Mooge Liban.

Speaking about the purpose of the annual exhibition, Dr. Jama said that the exhibition is a window the world views Somaliland’s security, development and culture.

 

 

 

Dr. Jama said that young people in Somaliland need to learn about their past history, culture,  hence create ideas and gain knowledge.

He elaborated on  the importance of neighborhood which was the theme of this year’s event which had Ethiopia being traditionally slated guest country.
