The World Health Organization (WHO) has donated anti-diarrheal drugs and kits to Somaliland Ministry of Health.

The anti-diarrheal drugs and kits are designed to deal with surging prevalence for diarrhea cases in parts of Somaliland.

Somaliland’s Ministry of Health director general Mr. Mohamed Abdi Hergeye  while receiving the donation said “As you all know, there has being increased in cases of diarrhea, been reported in all regions,” said.

“We received 910 cartons, each containing 10 liters from the World Health Organization (WHO),” he added.

These anti-diarrheal drugs and medical kits contain medicines to prevent dehydration during diarrhea and those who have undergone diarrhea treatment.

As per the WHO (World Health Organization), diarrhea is the second major cause of death, particularly in children under 5 years of age. Higher occurrence rates of diarrheal cases in emerging countries have been reported owing to improper and unhygienic sanitation procedures.
