During the 40th session of Somaliland’s Cabinet meeting chaired by the President of the Republic of Somaliland, Mr. Muse Bihi Abdi, flanked by the Vice President of Somaliland, Mr. Abdurrahman Abdilahi Ismail (Saylici) several issues were raised and deliberated among them the stalled talks between the between Somaliland and Somalia, working relations between the government and international organizations including the UN , rules and regulations for visiting ambassadors and delegates of the international community working in Somaliland.
The Cabinet has stressed the importance of dialogue on the security of the Horn of Africa and the co-operation between Somaliland and Somalia, as well as the implications of the previous bilateral talks that the Somali government has failed to implement.
The council discussed cooperation with the Somaliland government and international ambassadors and delegates, lauding the tremendous support the international community has experienced in Somaliland during the 28 years of the Republic of Somaliland regained its independence. ;
1) That Somaliland is ready to continue the dialogue between Somaliland and Somalia in a neutral space and have a clear agenda on the issues of the world, and must include mediators as well as guarantees. An official grantor who shall be guarantors of future agreements.
2) Somalia to acknowledge Somaliland as an independent state on 26 June 1960 united with Somalia on 1st July 1960 and were two separate countries historically and administratively, so to speak. As a result, bilateral negotiations become a means of entering into two separate governments.
3) That the dialogue should not include Somaliland individuals and politicians who hold positions in Somalia or oppose the sovereignty and sovereignty of the Republic of Somaliland.
4) The international community should treat Somaliland as an independent state that is not part of Somalia. Therefore, the ambassadors and envoys of the international community, heads of international organizations and organizations operating in the Republic of Somaliland must respect the sovereignty of Somaliland. Operate within the laws and regulations of Somaliland and shall not violate the territorial, international and maritime boundaries of the Republic of Somaliland.
5) All documents concerning future projects that the relevant authorities undertake in Somaliland shall use their own name, map, logo, and flag, except that the Republic of Somaliland cannot be carried out without any contract with Somaliland. , and no one can carry out projects without their consent from the relevant government agency.
Finally, the Cabinet did emphasize on the importance of holding elections and prioritizing elections.
