H.E President Muse Bihi Abdi, flanked by Vice President Abdurrahman Abdullah Ismail (Saylici), on Sunday met with the leaders of the two official opposition organizations, former vice President, politicians and representatives of civil societies discussed issues pertain the upcoming parliamentary and local government elections.
The heads of the three official political parties namely KULMIYE, WADDANI and UCID agreed upon the importance of holding the upcoming election as per timeline set and in accordance with state’s adherence to the democratization processes. At the same jointly overcoming the hurdles and contented with the manner the forth coming general elections was being prepared.
Lastly, the heads of the three official political parties namely KULMIYE, WADDANI and UCID issued a joint declaration:-
- The upcoming parliamentary and local government elections will be held as per timeline set at the end of 2019.
- The parties concerned shall work together in finding solutions for the outstanding issues and preparation for holding the upcoming elections.
- The committees representing the three official political parties shall continue to hold joint consultations until matters at hand are resolved.
- To jointly consult on matters as they arise.
The meeting comes amid concerns highlighted by WADDANI regarding the dissatisfaction and appropriateness of the national electoral commission and the fact that the process of preparation demanded the aspects of legalities and planning, funds and review reports from political parties to be in place before hand.
