February 08, 2022, an agreement was reached between the telecommunications companies and the government of the Republic of Somaliland.
The agreement aims to share ownership of the fiber optic cable between the telecommunications companies and the Somaliland government, represented by the Ministry of Communications and Technology JSL.
The President of the Republic of Somaliland, HE Muse Bihi Abdi, has been instrumental in the implementation of this agreement, which has been under the Ministry’s control for the past several years. So, this historic agreement and the main benefits of this agreement are:
- Integrate investment in fiber optic internet infrastructure
. 2. Promoting and upgrading high-speed internet services as part of economic development, business, education and facilitating access to government services.

- 5. This agreement will enable Somaliland to have a company that will play a key role in competing in the region’s fiber optic infrastructure investment market. The Ministry of Communications is committed to ensuring that stakeholders in both the Telecommunications and the telecommunications market are kept.
