Somaliland people is neither going to revenge nor feel hostility of those responsible all these lost of lives or difficulties and atrocities took place in the past. But want respectfully a mature and sensible talks with Somalia to accept all problems Somaliland believe in that no sorry has not been officially said so far since by Somali republic, in order to move on and resolve matter in way of Reliable, trustworthy, friendly, flexible and consistent, it is more important Somalia must give a great consideration and priority in the past and present for demand and complaints as well.

The question that needs to be answered here is who Somaliland will speak to for in the past and in the present issues? If a treatment of that ailment needed to be solved or cured, Somalia must avoid clearly and completely Somaliland nationals hired wrongly to make things worst not to be involved in which will derail talks and make so complicated further more. Let’s keep the ball rolling and continue the active talks in London and Istanbul properly and friendly to progress the current position.

    Siade Barre arrested and killed many people who he suspected to be part of a military coup d'état.
    Which lead to fleeing of the remainder suspects and the forming SNM and other groups abroad and at home. Since SNM was the furthest geographically and strongest of the groups, Siade Barre would've did anything and everything he could to suppress and demoralize them.
    Which ultimately failed and forced him to take drastic decision, like the bombing of populated cities, poisoning of wells, but do not sit there and act like you were the only ones who got this treatment because guess what other parts of Somalia did.

    If you would get you head out of your a** and actually researched and look at the bigger picture you would see, that that government would've did anything to remain in power,and because of their very actions, in last 21 yrs many Somalis lost their life's.

    How many children do you think died in the hands of their mother's starving, huh, or are you so fixated on yourself that you're willing to over look everything that happened to others, are you over looking at the fact the very group that started the armed rebellion, did nothing after the toppling of the Government, they didn't feel like they had a responsibility to help their people (not just Isaaqs).

    I say all the people who fought the Government and toppled Government had a responsibility and duty to restore peace and change our nation, every single clan and their so called movements had a responsibility and duty, they also had opportunity to do that in the 21 yrs.

  18. The author of this article is imitating intellectual but he is an empty shell: how idiot he is to choose such title or raise the issue of seeking apology etc!!! He is dead wrong for 2 reasons:

    1) First of all, there were no (at the time of war, nor now) TWO countries, nations, republics etc that fought between them and one massacred the other. That is not the case, walaal. It was a civil war between a government and its own people. Of course, the head of the government (Siyad Barre) was a dictator who kills anyone, group, clan, etc that appose his rule regardless of their clan, etc. The main objective was to keep his presidency only. Therefore, whenever a powerful clan or sub-clan revolts to the government, Siyad Barre used other powerful clans (and military) to crush the revolt.

    We know the history very well. The first clan Siyad Barre massacred was Majerteen (SSDF) using Isaaq clan military officials like Col. Haabiil, Col. Habbane, Col. Dhegaweyne, etc.. It was in 1980-83, when I myself had witnessed the masaccre hapening in the Gobolada Dhexe anigoo Xamar ka imid oo Woqooyi soo aaday fasaxii iskuulka baan dhexda ku soo arki jiray tuulooyin dhan oo markaas la gubay dadkiina la xasuuqay ama la qixiyey. (And I am Isaaq, for information, but I am free and fair person. I should always be as such because I am Muslim and should not tell lies and distort history because of my clan affiliation).
    Then after some time, Isaaqs themselves disobeyed Siyad Barre rule and established their own front (SNM). Siyad Barre (after having reconciled with SSDF) used Majeerteen officials like Morgan, Cadceed, etc. And so did all the clans.
    THEREFORE, THE BIQ QUESTION WHO IS GIVING APOLOGY TO WHO SINCE ALL THE CLANS PARTICIPATED IN THAT DIRTY GAME, KEEPING IN MIND THAT ODM CLANS (Ogaden, Dhulbahante, Mareexaan), Gedabursi, Ciise, Warsangeli, etc were with the government side until the last minute especially Dhulbahante, Gedabursi and Warsangel who are all in Somaliland territory now (unless you define Somaliland as Isaaqs only).

    2) Though Siyaad Barre was from South, the civil war was never between South and North. It was based on dictatorship ruled mingled with clannism. And again who is going to give apology to who!

    It is always good to do your homework well before you come to the stage.

    Thats not even counting the Mass graves the poisoning of well, what if the American Armed forces started to poison the water systems in certain cities? How American would the North Eastern United States feel? How Somali or Muslim did you think we felt? And when we even try to say what happened to us you try to shut us down and say hateful words or claim that we all suffered equally. And you have nerve to wonder why we dont want anything to do with you?

      🙂 We Somalilanders out of Kibir gaveup our independence in 1960 over confident that we would be able to get our fair share of a United Government we were wrong. I believe that same Kibir is still hold us back from neither moving forward nor attempting a different solution. We did not cross our border in 1991 simply because we prefer to always be seen to hold the moral high ground 🙂 that is why we will never go to war until SNA soldier enter our territorial borders.

      We like to be seen as the GOOD guys and that has it's weaknesses. If the roles were reversed i assure you they would have funded every activity they could to ensure our total destruction just like they did 84-91 and i do not believe they will ever change.

      So let us wait until they knock on our doors once again 🙂
