Hargeisa-19-10-2021 – The President of the Republic of Somaliland, HE Muse Bihi Abdi, meets with members of the visually impaired community in Somaliland.
The purpose of the meeting, which was held at the Presidential Palace, was for the President and members of the visually impaired to have an open exchange of views. The President during the meeting apologized on behalf of the invited government officials for failing to attend the World White Cane day.
The event was attended by members of the cabinet, parliamentarians, the president’s advisor for the disabled, members of the visually impaired, and other dignitaries, and included encouraging speeches. visually impaired, and guided by the government’s good relationship with the visually impaired.
The Presidential Adviser on Disability, Mr. Abdirahman Sheikh Hussein Abdi addressing the gathering, thanked the President for inviting the visually impaired people to the meeting. He said the government’s relationship with people with disabilities, in general, is strong and fully operational.
The Chairman of the Association of the Blind, Mr. Mahdi Muse Jama, the Chairman of the Association of the Deaf, Mr. Mustafe Mohamed Osman and Mrs. Hinda Muhumed Aqli, speaking for the visually impaired persons, thanked the President for hosting them and said the community was well aware of the President’s compassion and role in empathizing with the disabled.
The Minister of Religion and Endowments, Sheikh Abdirizak Ali Albani, also welcomed the meeting between the President and the visually impaired and reaffirmed the government’s full support for the disabled.
He promised that the government would cover the expenses of the visually impaired people plan to tie the knot and that his ministry would open a school free of charge for teaching the Qur’an and religion to the visually impaired.

He said: “This meeting is a result of your grievances and we apologize to you“.
Finally, the President stated that he was fully aware of the importance of the disabled in society as a whole, and was committed as a President to listening to any concerns from their side, and to the best of his ability to respond.
