The President of the Republic of Somaliland, HE Muse Bihi Abdi, at the Presidential Palace received the new Ambassadors of the European Union, Amb. Tiina Intelmann and Sweden Amb. Per Lindgarde on their first visit to Hargeisa, capital of Somaliland
The President of the Republic of Somaliland welcomed the new Ambassadors to Somaliland and briefed them on the progress made by the Republic of Somaliland over the past three decades and as a result, the nation of Somaliland has become a country that has held democratic elections that have attracted international attention, and there is complete peace and stability, and a good example for the rest of the world.
During the meeting, the two sides discussed the strengthening of relations between the Republic of Somaliland, the European Union, and Sweden, and the acceleration of development projects, both existing and future ones. The meeting also discussed the electoral process and regional issues in the Horn of Africa. Matters pertaining to the electoral process and regional issues in the Horn of Africa were discussed.
On their part, the visiting delegation commended the President and the people of Somaliland for the progress and vision of Somaliland to achieve their long-term and short-term goals, they pledged that will further build on the already good relations between Somaliland, the European Union, and Sweden.
The President was accompanied by the Deputy Minister of Foreign Affairs and International Cooperation, Mr. Abdinasir Omar Jama.
The EU Ambassador was accompanied by Ms. Maria Groeneveld, EU Program Manager, and Mr. Adnan Ahmed from the Somaliland Office at the EU.
