The President of the Republic of Somaliland, the chairman of KULMIYE party, Mr. Muse Bihi Abdi and the leaders of the opposition UCID and WADDANI, have formally agreed to solve the political impasse with opposition parties in regarding the new electoral commission election national and regional parliamentary elections.
The agreement between the President of the Republic of Somaliland and the leadership of opposition parties stated as follow:-
President of the Republic of Somaliland, Mr. Muse Bihi Abdi, UCID party leaders, and WADDANI, Eng. Faisal Ali-Warabe and Abdurrahman Mohamed Abdilahi (Cirro), in the presence of Kulmiye party’s top leadership and other top members of the opposition parties, signed a memorandum of understanding meant to solve the differences thus paving the for the holding of parliamentary and local elections.
The opposition parties fill in the two remaining members of the new national election commission so that the current national election commission can perform its duties, while former members of the electoral commission will work for hand in hand with the new electoral commission as technical members.
