London-The Commander of the Somaliland Police Force, Brigadier General Abdirahman Abdullahi Hassan (Abdi Dheere), led a high-level delegation on an official visit to the UK, accompanied by officials from the police and the UK’s Foreign, Commonwealth & Development Office (FCDO).
The trip aimed to strengthen collaboration between the Somaliland Police Force and the FCDO, focusing on enhancing institutional cooperation and capacity-building initiatives.
Key Engagements:
– Meetings in London: The Commander met with senior UK police officials to discuss strategies for bolstering bilateral partnerships, particularly in training, skill development, and operational expertise.
– Cardiff Discussions: In Wales, the delegation engaged with the South Wales Police, exploring ways to advance technical and tactical support for Somaliland’s law enforcement agencies.
Strategic Priorities: Brigadier General Abdi Dheere emphasized alignment with Somaliland President Abdirahman Mohamed Abdillahi (Irro) to modernize the police force. Key areas of focus include:
– Upgrading training programs and professional standards.
– Integrating advanced technology and methodologies into policing.
Community Engagement: During the visit, the Commander also met with Somaliland’s diaspora communities in London and Cardiff, thanking them for their contributions to national development. He highlighted the critical role of public participation in strengthening security and economic growth, urging continued collaboration between citizens and institutions.
This visit underscores Somaliland’s commitment to building robust international partnerships and advancing its security sector reforms.
