The National Elections Committee (NEC) met on Thursday, in separate meetings, with the President H.E. Musa Bihi Abdi, the leaders of the three official national parties and the leaders of Somaliland’s political organizations.
They parleyed on matters concerning the upcoming national elections.
The National Elections Committee received at its headquarters and met the officials of the three national parties UCID, KULMIYE and WADDANI separately.
They also held a meeting with the officials of Somaliland’s political organizations to discuss the upcoming elections in the country.
Acting chairman of the UCID party, Ali Hamoud Jibril, said that as a party, their position and suggestions were submitted to the National Elections Committee (NEC), pointing out that their party would support the elections body on matters in adherence to the law.
A day earlier on, the NEC official met with the speakers of both house of the parliament.
The NEC had made it clear that before they make major announcements such as the announcement of the date of elections they had the right to similarly consult with the major stakeholders.
