National Commemoration Committee on 18th May called on the public to maintain security, at a joint press conference in the capital earlier.
The National Preparatory Committee for May 18th called on the Somaliland community to fully attend the event.
Minister of Interior Hon. Mohamed Kahin Ahmed and the Minister of Information Hon. Suleiman Yusuf Ali Koore called on the public to maintain security so that the event could take place peacefully, and said traffic would be stopped on May 18th and no traffic would be allowed throughout the country.
Minister Kahin said that the National Committee congratulates the entire Somaliland community at home and abroad on the occasion of the 31st anniversary of the Republic of Somaliland on May 18, and prayed for a peaceful commemoration of the day in the country.
He also congratulated the national forces who are on duty day and night to defend the people and the country of the Republic of Somaliland.
Hon. Kahin called on the youth and the elderly to be vigilant, and on the day of the commemoration to properly dress the national emblem and the Somaliland flag.
On the night of May 17 at 12:00 midnight all traffic in the country will be suspended, and only emergency vehicles, such as the Ministry of Health, the Ministry of Education, the Ministry of Information,will be allowed to operate in the regions and the capital, with permits.
