The Finance Ministry organized an event attended by directors of the ministry as well as directors of autonomous agencies of Somaliland for assisting the finance ministry in raising revenue.
During the meeting, it was discussed the responsibilities of the directors for helping the ministry of finance in raising the national revenue.
Farhan Aden Haibe, the chairman of Civil Service Commission, has described the meeting as an important one for the public.
He stressed that as the country’s economy increases, the economy will also grow.
The Finance Minister, Dr. Sa’ad Ali Shire said that the country’s ministries have several roles in carrying out this, they can either collect taxes on behalf of the ministry or compel the users of their services to clear taxes due on them.
He said: ” The purpose was to share with the directors the responsibilities they have for assisting us the ministry of finance in raising revenue from the public. The ministries have several roles in carrying out this, they can either collect taxes on behalf of the finance ministry or compel users of their services to clear taxes due on them but at the same time they have the duty of informing the users of the services of these ministries to pay the taxes which they have to pay according to the law.”
The event was also attended by the deputy minister of finance, Musa Ibrahim Salaf. The directors of the ministries and other government officials.
