The Ministry of Agriculture has today started distributing indigenous seeds to farmers in Marood-Jeh, Sanaag, and Buhoodle regions.
The Ministry of Agriculture tapped into its workforce of extension officers to distribute seed packages and reach farmers.
The seeds will be distributed free of charge, with the main purpose of boosting farmers’ productivity.
The seeds been distributed are catalog as the indigenous species previously used by farmers in Somaliland. Many indigenous crops are environmentally sustainable, improve food security, help prevent malnutrition, and increase farmer incomes.
