The Mayor of Hargeisa Cllr. Abdikarim Ahmed Mooge paid his taxes on his house in Ahmed Dagah district yesterday, telling that he has been a taxpayer for the Ahmed Dagah district for many years.
Speaking at the district where he was paying taxes, Cllr. Abdikarim said that he has been a taxpaying citizen for many years, ”and now God has made it possible that as the Mayor of the Capital to pay the taxes due to my house”.
The Mayor said it was unwise to ask citizens for taxes, if officials did not pay their dues and took the lead. He thanked those who paid their taxes and called on those who did not paid yet to pay.
“It is not possible for us to ask citizens for taxes, without us paying our taxes. I thank the people of the city and Ahmed Dhagah district who paid their taxes and I urge those who haven’t yet to pay their taxes”.
Cllr. Abdikarin called on the state officials to set the best example so that they can be proud of their political future.
The move by the mayor of Hargeisa Cllr. Abdikarin, will lead many citizens to pay their taxes, and needed other government officials emulate him.
