Vice President of the Republic of Somaliland and Chairman of the National Drought Relief Committee H.E. Abdirahman Abdillahi Ismail Sayli’i, who last week travelled to the eastern regions of the country to monitor the living conditions of people and animals, has delivered government provided funds for water bowsers to the regions and districts as relief for people and animals affected by the drought.
He handed over $232,000 to the Governors of Badhan and Sanaag regions and announced that they would distribute food rations to 4,500 families in the two regions, especially the vulnerable.
H.E. Sayli’i and his entourage who reached Erigavo, the capital of Sanaag region, handed over $ 167,000 (one hundred and sixty-seven thousand) dollars to the Governor of Sanaag region, while the governor of Badan region was handed $65,000, which is the government’s contribution to the current drought relief effort.
Meanwhile, the committee announced that the government will provide food to 4,500 families in Sanaag and Badan regions, especially the most vulnerable.
Meanwhile, the Vice President of Somaliland, H.E. Abdirahman Abdillahi Ismail, accompanied by the Minister of Water Development, Hon. Ali Hassan Mohamed (Ali Marehan), Minister of Livestock, Hon. Said sulub, NADFOR Chairman Mr. Faisal A. Sheikh the mayor of Sanaag region, and the mayor of Erigavo district, untied the ropes for a newly excavated water rig on the outskirts of Erigavo, which will relieve community water needs.
The Vice President and his delegation toured Erigavo and had tea with the people of Erigavo.
VP Sayli’i and members of the National Drought Relief committee he was leading had previously handed over more than $500,000 for water trucking to the Governors of Togdeer, Dad-madeed, Buhoodle, Saraar, Sool, and Haysimo regions.
