The Ministry of Finance of the Republic of Somaliland today concluded a two-day training course for 100 taxpayers. The training, in collaboration with the Ministry and Oxford Policy Management (OPM), focused on how taxpayers can pay taxes for the Ministry’s recent Taxpayer’s Online Portal added.
This system allows entrepreneurs to pay their taxes online through finance ministry’s office while at their place of work, and to simplify tax collection and saves taxpayer time and money spent taxing. Deputy Minister of Finance H. JSL Md. Muse Ibrahim Salaf, who concluded the training, avowed to the businessmen who attended the seminar that its Ministry strategy is to simplify procedures taxpayers pay taxes.
Director General of the Ministry of Finance Development Mr. Mohamed Abdi Gurhan who also spoke at the meeting elaborated on in-depth details the essence of this training and the benefits to the taxpayer which is to increase their knowledge and methods using modern accounting and taxation system used the automated tax system (Online Taxpayer Portal System) also he commended taxpayers role in the development of the country.
On the other hand, Khadar Mohamed Muhumed (Khadar Laas), Deputy Director of the Inland Revenue Department, who spoke stated that the training of modern accounting and automation systems will significantly reduce the burden on taxpayers.
Earlier, Ministry of Finance in collaboration with OPM gave to 40 traders a presentation on the new Customs Portal. The Portal allows traders to complete import declarations and payments of duties and taxes electronically, saving trade time and money. A trial of the Portal will commence in July.
