The Ministry of Defense has informed the East African governments and the international community about the latest situation in the Sool region, especially in the areas of Maraga and Hargaga near Lasanod.
A press release from the Ministry of Defense on Tuesday read as follows;
“Last night and yesterday morning, the National Army faced organized attacks by Puntland groups, terrorists, and militias. It is true that these groups have united to destabilize Somaliland and the region as a whole.
“I strongly condemn these attacks, and we strongly support the bravery of Somaliland security forces, which is strongly defending our borders.
“The Ministry of Defense calls on the international community to monitor the hostile actions that pose a great threat to the stability of the region. We stand for the protection of our sovereignty and the stability of our people”.
