Hon Hinda Jama Hirsi Gani, minister of social affairs and welfare attended a conference on UNICEF’s Child Care and Rights held on Tuesday.
Speaking at the opening of the conference, Hon. Hinda Jama said that the ministry of social affairs and UNICEF are working together on improving the rights of children and their care and in 2019 we have accomplished many things in regard to children’s rights and we are that are taking the initiative to bring about improvements.
Since the cabinet of ministers passed law, we have tried our best do what is necessary to bring the legislation (and its implementation) in line with the standards outlined in the Convention on the Rights of the Child and we work together with UNICEF so as to enhance the commitment and capacity to prevent and respond to abuse and with the ministry of justice child rights and child protection issues.
Mr. Abdurrahman Sheik Hassan, the director-general in the ministry of Justice speaking during the conference said, “I would like to thank UNICEF which has since 1991, supported the country education and health sector. He added that the ministry of justice will during the conference showcase the achievements and challenges in 2019.
