To commemorate the fiftieth anniversary of the United Nations conference on the human environment – the 1972 Stockholm Conference, the Republic of Somaliland is among participants at the Stockholm+50 2022 Conference.
This participation at the International environment conference has not only been facilitated by the UNDP , is a first for Somaliland at that level but comes at an opportune moment for her people who are reeling from effects of recurring droughts exacerbated climate change
This was disclosed by the Director General at the ministry of environment and rural development Abdikarin Aden Adde in Hargeisa.
Stockholm+50 is an international meeting convened by the United Nations General Assembly to be held in Stockholm, Sweden from 2-3 June 2022.
Themed a healthy planet for the prosperity of all – our responsibility, our opportunity” It will commemorate the 50 years since the 1972 United Nations Conference on the Human Environment, which made the environment a pressing global issue for the first time.
In 2022 it will be fifty years since the first United Nations conference on the human environment – the 1972 Stockholm Conference. The Government of Sweden will host a UN, high-level meeting in June 2022 to commemorate this anniversary. The aim is to contribute to accelerating a transformation that leads to sustainable and green economies, more jobs, and a healthy planet for all, where no one is left behind.
