The President of the Rep of Somaliland H.E Musa Bihi Abdi yesterday received the heads of the Brenthurst Foundation at the presidential palace, accompanied by top international academicians and scholars, who had participated in an international symposium to discuss peace and governance building in Africa that had just ended in Hargeisa.
The head of state thanked the Brenthurst Foundation for holding their first international seminar in the greater Horn of Africa, in Somaliland. Hence Somaliland becomes the first African country in the Horn region to host an international conference to talk about African affairs.
The president thanked the international participants in the conference for believing in Somaliland.
The head of state went further to state that all previous Somaliland administrators have worked to make Somaliland a magnet for peace and development, this he said has made the country attract foreign friends and visitors.
The president revealed unequivocally that the development of Somaliland was a result of the cooperation and inclusiveness of diverse inhabitants of the country. This has made it possible for the international community to accept Somaliland in terms of foreign investment and international conferences held in her territory.
On the other hand, Brenthurst Foundation acknowledged the good governance of governance and democratic institutions in Somaliland. They stated that this has led them to host this year’s conference in Hargeisa, Somaliland.
Brenthurst Foundation leaders confirmed that the peace and development of Somaliland have been a factor in their decision to hold the symposium in the country.
The Brenthurst Foundation concluded today, three days international conference whereby participants from 17 countries took part, amongst them were intellectuals, and researchers.
The theme of the conference was peace and security, development, and governance building in Africa.
The president was flanked by his deputy Mr.Abdirahman Abdillahi Ismael (Sayli’i), Minister of Interior Hon. Mohamed Kahin Ahmed, Minister of Information, Culture and National Guidance Hon. Suleiman Yusuf Ali Kore, Minister of Defense Hon. Abdigani Mohamud Cateye Fareed, Presidential Adviser of Foreign Affairs & Former Kenya Ambassador Bashe Omar.
