Hargeisa, 30 July 2009 (Somalilandpress) – Ethiopian Ministry of Foreign Affairs said ongoing talks between Ethiopia and Somaliland on the use of the port of Barbara are well in progress.
State Minister of Foreign Affairs, Dr. Tekeda Alemu on Wednesday held discussions with Somaliland Foreign Affairs Minister, Abdulahi Mohammed Duele.

The discussions between the two officials were focused on the ongoing consultations to enable Ethiopia to utilize Barbara port.
The two ministers also discussed ways of further bolstering economic and trade relations between the two sides.
Ethiopia’s use of the port is believed to further strengthen existing economies and trade ties between the two nations, according to Ethiopian Radio and Television Agency’s Website.

It seems to me that this Somaliland so called ministers are like Ethiopian ministers, they are no different to the Somali region of Ethiopia. Who cares if Ethiopia needs Berbera port, thats their interest, what about Somaliland interest?

Once the shipments arrive the borderline, Ethiopia has no ways and means to safeguard and defend it for the long haul between the boder and its highland destination.
In between the border and the destination, there are hundreds of kilometers populated by people who are hostile to the very idea who will be waiting to strike it. Keep dreaming.

Anyways he embarassed us in washington, he is embarassing in somaliland with this ethiopian deals…since he has been in office i have seen nothing he has done that actually benefits somaliland. The only things that have happened in somaliland benefits are by our religious ppl, business-men, scholars, etc. But this Rayale has not done 1 thing to benefit us in anyway.

Scrutiny on Riyale. Who does he work for? Ethiopia had an eye on Berbera port for sometime. They took their chance of signing fictitious contracts before the guy hits the road. Smart eh?
