The federal government of Ethiopia has replaced its Emissary long time General Berehe Tesfaye to Hargeisa, Somaliland with Ambassador Shamsudiin Ahmed Rooble.
There is no official confirmation by the Federal Ethiopian government on the replacement of the diplomat, but reports from the Horn of Africa have confirmed that the diplomat, who has been out of the office for last two months, has been replaced, and that Federal Ethiopian government is expected to name a new emissary soon.
Ambassador Shamsudiin Ahmed Rooble in 2018 replaced Brigadier General Berehe Tesfaye who has for the past 10 years being special Ambassador of the federal government of Ethiopia to Somaliland.
Ambassador Shamsuddin, a career diplomat before his current portfolio as the head of Ethiopia mission served in various capacities in Ethiopia’s foreign ministry and has previously served as ambassador to Djibouti and Kenya.
At the time of reporting, we tried to reach Somaliland’s foreign ministry to inquire about the issue but, was unable to do so.
The day to day work is at the Ethiopian Consulate is ongoing at the behest of an unnamed diplomatic official who is responsible for running the daily business.
