First and foremost, I extend my heartfelt congratulations to the people of Somaliland for their active participation in electing their new leadership. This significant milestone reflects the nation’s commitment to democracy and progress. I sincerely congratulate President Abdirahman Mohamed Abdilahi ” and Vice President Mohamed Aw Abdi on their well-deserved victory.
The people of Somaliland have placed their trust in you to guide the nation over the next five years, a trust that carries great responsibility and opportunity. As you embark on this leadership journey, it is crucial to recognize Somaliland’s unique position on the global stage. While the international community has yet to acknowledge Somaliland’s sovereignty formally, there is a path forward through strategic and well-crafted foreign policies.
Establishing solid diplomatic relations and building bridges with influential global partners will be essential for amplifying Somaliland’s voice on the international stage. This will require a balanced approach that showcases the region’s stability, democratic values, and economic
potential.
Unity and peace must remain at the heart of your administration’s agenda. A nation’s strength lies in its ability to unite its people, transcending tribal and regional divides. Fostering an inclusive society will lay the groundwork for a resilient and harmonious Somaliland. Prioritizing peace-building measures and creating platforms for dialogue will reinforce trust and solidarity
among all citizens.
Economic development is another critical pillar driving Somaliland’s progress. A comprehensive financial strategy that leverages the country’s strengths—from its strategic location to its entrepreneurial spirit—will pave the way for sustainable growth. Investment in infrastructure,
trade partnerships, and job creation initiatives will contribute to a thriving economy that benefits all segments of society.
Equally important is the reform of the education system. Quality education is the bedrock of any nation’s development and prosperity. An education system that equips young Somalilanders with relevant skills and knowledge will boost economic productivity and inspire innovation and civic engagement. Emphasizing academic excellence and practical skills training will prepare the next generation to face future challenges confidently and competently.
We also wish to honor our former president, Muse Bihi Abdi, for his efforts and commitment to protecting Somaliland during his tenure. His leadership faced significant challenges, including
the Southern region conflict, economic hurdles, and election preparations. Despite these obstacles, he worked tirelessly for Somaliland, and his contributions should be respected and recognized.
Finally, while the Horn of Africa presents numerous challenges, Somaliland has been a beacon of peace and stability in the region. This legacy is worth preserving and building upon. Upholding peace, enhancing security measures, and promoting regional cooperation will ensure that Somaliland remains an example of progress in a tumultuous region.
To President Abdirahman Abdilahi and Vice President Mohamed Aw Abdi, the path ahead may be complex, but it is filled with promise. With dedicated leadership, a vision for unity, and a commitment to strategic growth, Somaliland can continue to chart a course toward greater recognition and prosperity. The future is bright, and the world is watching.
Thank you.
Sincerely,
Prof. Ali Abdi Hori
