SomalilandCurrent-Hargeisa-26-06-2022 – The 62nd anniversary of the liberation of the Republic of Somaliland from British colonial rule was celebrated tonight at the Presidential Palace of the Republic of Somaliland.
The highly organized national event was attended by the President of the Republic of Somaliland, HE Muse Bihi Abdi, the Vice President, HE Abdirahman Abdillahi Ismail (Saylici), the Speaker of the House of Elders, HE Saleban Mohamud Aden, the Chairman of the Supreme Court, Lawyer Aden Haji Ali Ahmed, Speaker of the House of Representatives, Mr. Abdirizak Khalif Ahmed, former Vice Presidents, MPs, Ministers, Ambassadors, Diplomats, KULMIYE party leaders, leaders of some newly established political parties, intellectuals, distungshed guests of honor and members of the general public.
First of all, the National Troupe, presented a variety of theatrical shows and poems on the occasion that reflects the value of June 26th and how it is a national day and the country’s progress during its existence.
The Speaker of the House of Representatives, Hon. Abdirizak Khalif Ahmed, speaking at the event, elaborated on the value of this National Day, the efforts made for its independence and how it deserves to be valued and valued at all times.
The Speaker of the House of Elders, Hon. Saleban Mohamud Aden, on his part congratulated the public on Independence Day and called on the leaders of the opposition parties to respect the laws of the land, and safeguard unity and coexistence of fellow citizens.
The President of the Republic of Somaliland, HE Muse Bihi Abdi, in his address, congratulating the fellow citizens on the occasion of the 62nd anniversary of Somaliland’s independence from the United Kingdom,; The President further highlighted Somaliland’s achievements since gaining its independence.
“The foreign policy of the Republic of Somaliland has been successful in the rest of the world and has attracted the attention of the world’s major powers,” he said, citing the United States and Somaliland’s fruitful friendship as an example. “Today, it is a testament to the fact that Somaliland’s independence, recognition and achievements are being pursued by the international community, including Washington and the United Kingdom, the rest of the world. It is due to the efforts of our people over time, ”said President H.E Muse Bihi Abdi.
The President of the Republic of Somaliland, Mr. Muse Bihi Abdi, declared that he has extending an olive branch to the leaders of the opposition parties, and that he was ready for forging brotherhood and dialogue, and called on the fellow citizens not to fall for rhetoric talk exchanged by politicians from the various political parties.
The President called on all segments of society to work harder and increase local productivity and not rely on foreign production so as to overcome the current food crisis.
Finally, at exactly 12:00 AM, East African time the flag of the Republic of Somaliland was hoisted, and the President saluted the flag.
